What are kettlebells? Essentially kettlebells are a weighted ball with a handle. But training with one is more than just weight training. It is full body dynamic and ballistic movements with minimum impact, and perfect for training both fitness and strength at the same time. Because of the high level of muscle activation, kettlebells burn an amazing amount of calories for body fat reduction, increase post work-out resting metabolism, and help to strengthen and mobilise joints.

Is this a new ‘fad’ training system? Kettlebells were first mentioned in writing in Russia back in the 1600’s, so not really. That all depends on whether a fad can last over 300 years. They have been relatively unknown outside Russia, however in the last 20 years have revolutionised training.

Can anyone do it? Yes. Personal Training is about helping you to reach your goals, whilst all sessions and programs are designed specifically for you. This means your current fitness levels, strength, flexibility, and health is taken into account. As long as you are medically fit to undertake an exercise programs, you can train with kettlebells.

Where can we do it? We operate from Fitness First in Bedford, however we are fully mobile, and can bring much of our equipment to your house, or local park.

Who else trains with them? Many celebrities and professional athletes now train regularly with kettlebells. Liverpool and Chelsea football clubs regularly use them as part of their conditioning, as do most premiership rugby clubs. Fighters off kinds were the first to embrace them, but they are now also in use by baseball players, lance Armstrong, US secret service, Russian Spetznaz special forces, and actors like Matthew Mcconaughey, Penelope Cruz, Sylvester Stallone, and Jennifer Anniston.
 

I’m not an athlete, why should I train like one? Athletes train in a way to get the most from their body, in the most effective and safest way possible. Much time and money is spent researching the best ways to train. Doing similar training, at a intensity to match your own level will yield the best results for you, in the most effective and time efficient manner, whilst minimising risk of injury.
